Gnomesflake Update

I like to get straight to the point and not waste people’s time with a lot of chit-chat on the blog here. That doesn’t help me much with generating ad revenue but I value your time and don’t think the extra $0.0002 is worth your frustration.

I have just updated “Gnomesflake” on Ravelry and Etsy. There are now three files for you to choose from.

On Ravelry you’ll have a notification and can download and save to wherever you store your patterns.

I personally save everything to Dropbox. I have a folder for homeschooling, a folder for my crochet designs, a folder for other designers’ crochet patterns (that I may or may not ever have time to make), a folder for our tax information, etc. No matter which computer I sit down at, or which tablet or phone, I can always access my stuff.

What has been changed?

In short: the brackets on the original patterns and an additional adjusted solid overlay mosaic pattern.

The original file had the written pattern for interlocking crochet, a chart, and then the written pattern for overlay mosaic crochet. I added an x-marked chart for mosaic crochet a few months later but didn’t join it to the file, so there were two files available.

I have separated the two techniques into their own files now. And I have added a third file.

Much like Rocking Horse, I have added a second overlay mosaic crochet pattern where I use an adjusted chart.

The original overlay mosaic crochet version still uses the original interlocking chart (so you will see the border lines and the mesh dots). But this additional overlay mosaic crochet pattern has had the extra border lines removed and there are no more mesh dots interrupting the solid spaces. I call it “adjusted” mosaic crochet, but you can also think of it as a solid version.

The original written patterns for “Gnomesflake” had a lot of weird brackets. Technically there was nothing wrong with it as written, you could still follow it and get the proper finished piece, but it was sloppy and I apologize. The new files have better brackets but technically no changes in the actual design.
