July Dog is a German Shepherd

Our Canadian summer is always full of surprises!

New Dog Square

Welcome to July! This month’s dog square is a German Shepherd. The emails have been sent, the updates have been posted. This is our 7th square this year and this is our 4th year of having a monthly square so I think you probably all know what to expect. 🤣

If you've got a moment, check out my webpage for this month's pattern: https://ashleeslint.com/2024/06/30/july-dog-german-shepherd/ or take a peak at this quick little video I made (~14 seconds long).

Ashlee’s Real Life

I wrote this draft a few days ago. Since then we’ve had some major water (about 100mm in 24 hours compared to the month’s average of 69mm!) and it’s taking a lot of extra time I don’t have. 😅

It’s been a bit hectic around here. We have known we need to re-do the shingles since we moved in 2 years ago but we’re noticing lots of shingles in the yard and some water damage this year and it’s feeling really urgent. Some of my high school/university art that was stored in our sun room got slightly damaged and I’m feeling a bit sad. It’s also where I store my yarn so I had to spend some time moving those containers to safety which means I had less time to do everything else I needed to do this week.

The first flood, from June 23, 2024

Our cellar also flooded (pic above) due to all the rain we’ve had lately (the first ‘flood was a few inches, since writing this draft we’ve had a second, larger flood of a few feet in the cellar, see pic below). That’s the place we’d hide if a tornado came (we live in a mobile home / trailer so there’s no basement) and we did get a tornado watch for our area this week with an emergency tornado warning alert pushed to our phones. Nothing came of it in our area but there are some towns that weren’t so lucky.

The 2nd flood, June 28, 2024. Higher than my husband’s knees (and he’s 6’2”).

The hail hurt a few of my plants in the garden as well. I still feel like I just don’t have enough time to keep the weeds down but I’m happy to see a lot of my things have started growing finally.

We’ve managed to pump out most of the water now but it’s supposed to rain again tonight so we’ll see if that was worth the effort.

NEW Referral Reward Program!

If you love my newsletter, perhaps you know others who would too? You can now earn rewards for referrals!

I sent out a newsletter last week showing off my new version of the Welcome Email and it now includes a little Referral Program! If you missed it, check out my webpage explaining it all: https://ashleeslint.com/newsletter/referrals

Newsletter 50% Off Promotion

The 50% discount on “Wild and Free” lasts until the middle of July. This month I’ve created the ability for you to take advantage of this promotion whether you use Ravelry or Etsy. I prefer Ravelry but I make a lot of sales on Etsy and have no plans to discard it at this time.

Yes, this little section below here is a paid advertisement. I’ve turned down other ads that seem very ridiculous for my audience but I thought this one actually might be interesting for some of you. Disclaimer: I may earn advertisement income if you interact with the ad below.
