New Dog Square for March

And a YouTube Short

March Dog is not Holiday-Themed

I asked if anyone had guesses on what March Dog would look like. A lot of responses thought there would be a St. Patrick’s day theme. I hope you’re not disappointed that it’s just a dog.

Table of Contents

I tried using a ‘full vertical’ screen as suggested by YouTube - and I think it looks ridiculous. The frame is still a wide horizontal view? Technology, right?

When I drew this square I was definitely thinking blue (like my interlocking crochet sample) but now that I’ve got this bright yellow overlay mosaic crochet sample I’m actually really loving it! Thoughts on the bright colors? A lot of my testers have opted for black and white this year.

The 2024: A Year of Dogs eBook has been updated on Ravelry and Etsy. Etsy-purchasers have been emailed.

Have these colorwork techniques got you stumped? A reminder about my tutorials: if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again!

Mid-month is when I switch the pattern associated with our 50% off promotion code so you’ll need to wait another few weeks if you’re not interested in Monstera Leaf. This promotion is only valid on Ravelry.

Book Dragon Update

Nothing has changed in the design of Book Dragon. I just wanted to make the charts more friendly.

I've updated the charts for both techniques for ease-of-use. The interlocking crochet chart rows and columns are now numbered and I've included a chart-reading explanation. The mosaic crochet charts have numbers on all four sides of the chart now.

I've also added MC or CC to the numbered rows in the written pattern of the mosaic crochet option. So each row looks like "MC 132 - JS..." which has made the written pattern look slightly longer so you may find your row on a different spot on the page if you were in progress.

The update has been sent out on Ravelry and I emailed all the Etsy purchasers. If you purchased on Etsy and didn’t see the email and it is no longer in your spam folder just hit reply and let me know your invoice number and I’ll send it off to you! (Also let me know if you want both techniques or just the one - I don’t want to fill up your inbox unnecessarily).

Thanks again for all your support!

I’m in love with the colors in Debbie Remington’s mosaic crochet sample of Book Dragon!

Videos

I created a 6 minute introduction video for my YouTube channel which I cut down to less than a minute for my Instagram page. It took me over an hour to record this video - clearly I need more practice! I also made a really long chatty video on Instagram live which nearly mortifies me to watch again. I had planned on doing a 5 minute ‘hey my Designaversary is coming up!’ and instead it turned into some big emotions.

One of the reasons I created this introduction video was to use for my participation in the Late Winter Virtual Market run by Canadian Small Business Community. They will be featuring various small businesses throughout March; most of these businesses will likely not have offerings for an international market (sorry).

4th Designaversary

April 1, 2024 will mark 4 years since I published my first pattern to Ravelry!

I’m hoping that my 4th Designaversary brings some excitement but it turns out I have to create my own excitement. Any suggestions on how we should celebrate?

Did you like the past year’s celebrations?

Thank you!

I’m very thankful for the kind words, supportive comments, likes and shares.

I do have a long list of updates I’m trying to work through but if there’s something specific you’re waiting for please let me know and I’ll bump it to the top of the list!

Love and hugs,
Ashlee

We had a big snow day last week. It even kept my husband home from his new job. It was very windy and cold and we were reminded just how drafty this place is.

Photo below shows my youngest, Melody, trying to get the cat’s attention. Outside we have a half-finished deck that my husband dragged from the other side of the house but hadn’t finished putting the top boards back on when winter arrived.

Popcorn, our cat, is an indoor cat most of the time but he loves a good romp outside. We’re thankful that’s allowed here <3
