I have an exciting announcement and a small favor to ask

Don't worry, it's easy!

I know, you were expecting the next email to be on the 1st when I have the next dog square published. But I just couldn’t wait!

Big and exciting news

I’ve been dreaming of this for a few years and I’m very excited to announce that I have finally created my own webstore! I still have a few more old patterns to list (it takes a long time to manage all 350+ designs with a minimum of 2 files each) but it is functional and ✨ pretty ✨ and everything is 30% until September 9!

Please let me know if something isn’t working as expected!

This project was never urgent so I kept putting it off. Plus, I really like web design and it felt selfish to be putting my attention here when I have so many patterns to update and so much crocheting that I need to catch up on as well.

But, Etsy came out with another fee and I needed a landing page to ‘sell’ a freebie for the 2024 Crochet Blanket Summit (more details on that coming in the next email) and my newsletter host subscription is up for renewal next month so it’s good timing to switch things over.

It’s taken me about 6 weeks to build this site. If I wasn’t also managing kids and a garden and migraines and birthdays and my regular crochet stuff (testers and new patterns, etc) then I don’t think it would have taken 6 weeks. But that’s how my life goes!

I’ll still keep using Ravelry to list my patterns but I haven’t yet decided how to manage Etsy. Going forward I’ll list patterns on my self-hosted webshop first and then add them to Ravelry the next day.

A favor

I hate to do this, because I know it’s annoying and can sometimes be confusing for you all. But I do have a favor to ask.

When I set up my webshop I also had to set up transactional emails (you buy a pattern, you get an email with your receipt and download links). Beehiiv is my current newsletter subscription service and they’re just not configured for transactional emails so I needed a new host. It’s silly (and expensive) to pay for two newsletter hosts so I’m switching over to mail poet.

Officially, you don’t have to do anything. Your email just gets moved to the new host and we continue doing newsletters. BUT, with all the switcheroos I’ve had to change the email address I send from as well. So it’s possible that your email account will not recognize it as a newsletter you want and will accidentally stick me in the spam folder.

After I send this newsletter I’m going to send one from the new host as well. If it comes to your inbox you should be able to click or hover on the email address listed in the ‘from’ line and save me or mark me as safe.

** Will you add [email protected] to your safe list or contact list or white list or whatever your email account calls it?

Next email

The next email you get from me should be arriving around the same time as this email but it will be from a different email address.

That email will just repeat what I’ve said above.

And THEN the next email you’ll get from me will be to show the next dog square and tell you all the fabulous details about the 2024 Crochet Blanket Summit!

2024 Crochet Blanket Summit

I’ve never attended a summit like this before and I’ve never been a speaker at one. But I’m very honored and excited to be part of this one!

I know Hortense (Knitting With Chopsticks - the host) is busy double checking all the final details right now and each of the speakers are eagerly waiting to tell their mailing lists.

I’m sorry I can’t give you any more details quite yet but I hope you’ll keep an eye out for the email I send on the 1st!

Talk to you soon!

I’m going to go send you another email real quick. I wanted you to see that I was BOTH emails and trust my new address.

My subscription to Beehiiv ends in September but I own my email address so you’ll still be able to contact me I just won’t be using this layout.

Love and hugs!
Ashlee
